If you found Season 1’s Wednesday was deliciously dark, you’ll be thrilled to know the second season will be a bit creepier. Netflix officially announced season 2 early last year, and fans have been theorizing, buzzing, and waiting excitedly until now.
A Darker & Bolder Storyline
As the creators explain, the new season of Wednesday, we can anticipate that it is going to delve into a darker, richer, and touch a more mysterious vein. When showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar were asked about the new season in a recent interview, they planned new ways of moving Wednesday’s character into new territory. Expect more tension, deeper friendship, and relationships that will surprise you.
And, yes, Wednesday’s deadpan delivery and wry humor remain intact but this time, she may actually show a glimmer of vulnerability. Maybe.
Who’s Back?
All right, first things first: Jenna Ortega is back, and we couldn’t picture anyone else in Wednesday’s impeccably polished black boots. Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia Addams) and Luis Guzmán (Gomez Addams) will also return as the much-loved Addams Family, and then, of course, there are whispers that this season may feature more than a little Addams Family screen time.
Not to mention, fan-favorite characters in Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers), Xavier Thorpe (Percy Hynes White), and Bianca Barclay (Joy Sunday) have all returned to Nevermore Academy. Plus, because every chilling story can use a few new faces, let’s assume some new mysterious characters will also find themselves haunting the hallowed places.
Let’s Breakdown the Trailer
Netflix released its official trailer last week, and it’s just as unsettling and spellbinding as you’d expect. It begins with Wednesday confronting a new threat—one that looks to be larger and far more menacing than any she has ever faced. Within seconds, there are disturbing symbols, secret societies, and for the record lots of monstrous beings lurking around (Cue: Gargoyle).
It’s worth mentioning that Wednesday appears to be caught between her friends and her own dark side. And at the end as Wednesday looks at us and goes, “I do my best work in the dark” (we’re rooting for her)
And that haunting soundtrack? Perfection.
What’s New at Nevermore Academy?
It’s like returning to the crime scene – Wednesday.
Nevermore Academy itself is getting something of a face-lift. With Principal Weems gone (RIP), a new headmaster, who has been described as “far more menacing than he first appears,” is coming on board. You can expect stricter rules, creepier rituals and a much greater exploration of Nevermore’s hidden history.
Oh, and the school grounds look decidedly more gothic, complete with dark woods, hidden tunnels, and monuments that lift the veil on a shadowy past.
Mark Your Calendars - Releasing On:
Season 2 is all set to premiere in two parts:
- Part 1: August 6, 2025 and
- Part 2: September 3, 2025
Though we’re fond of the split release that’s almost a month apart, fans are ready to wait for the season.
