Each film will be dedicated to one Beatel’s individual story, while still showcasing The Beatles collective story. Each film will showcase the invasion of Beatlemania, the rapids of fame and fame syndrome, the internal dynamics of relationships, and finally the break-up of the group in 1970. The films will also take a fascinating look deeper at the musician’s careers and journey beyond the Beatles itself.

 

The Cast: A Spectacle to Eye

Paul McCartney: Being played by Paul Mescal, known from the British TV show Normal People and Gladiator II. Fans of Mescal have reacted positively to this casting as Mescal is a well-known rising star in the film industry and in many cases resembles the younger version of McCartney. 

 

John Lennon: To be played by Harris Dickinson, who also starred in Triangle of Sadness. The talented Dickinson is well-known for portraying complicated and often intense characters, so it is no surprise that fans are excited to see him take on the iconic and frequently controversial Lennon.

The intention behind this as, Rothman explained, will provide audiences with an immersive experience that provides the opportunity to immerse yourself in all of The Beatles’ experiences, and to watch each member’s story in sequence. This offers the possibility of transformational storytelling and varied perspective into real life making it a stellar quality of a biopic film. Mendes, an Academy Award winner for American Beauty, has stated the productions are conducting extensive research to ensure historical accuracy and authenticity. The surviving members of The Beatles, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, along with the families of Lennon and Harrison, are reportedly serving as consultants. The films will feature never-before-seen archival footage, interviews, and performances of Beatles songs recreated.

 

Sparking Controversy: Liverpool Accent & Authenticity at Stake?

 

While many fans and critics have opinions about the authenticity of the portrayals, primarily regarding their accents, the excitement of these films still exists, as none of the primary cast members are from Liverpool, which brings the question on whether they can capture the distinct Scouse accent and the cultural intricacies of the Beatles’ experience. Critics would even argue that, by employing actors who are not Liverpudians, it would take away from the films’ authenticity, while other fans believe that the actors are skilled and prepared to immerse themselves into the roles.
